With the Developer Pre-release finally out, the time is right for a status report on the current state of AmigaOS 4.0. The huge amount of work invested into the project by a lot of dedicated developers means that there has already been substantial progress since the pre-release.

News has reached our shores that people are finally beginning to receive their pre-releases of OS4. Not only that but it is now confirmed that the pre-release will ship with all AmigaOne's sold up until the final release.

Now... where did I put that credit card....

Thanks to Tony Wyatt I am please to now also provide you with a Pre-Release FAQ to go along side the excellent Install Guide written by Carl aka JurrasicC which can be found here

Still more to come shortly :-)

Thanks to Elwood I have been able to update the UBoot section of the site with a more comprenesive guide to UBoot. More updates to come shortly.

It is with great pleasure I am able to announce IntuitionBase is the new home for JaXanim's excellent WaveGuide website.

WaveGuide is a website specifically created to aid Amiga Lighwave users, it is packed with information and features, check it out here

If anyone else has a project that is in need of a cyberspace home, dont hesitate to contact me, Im sure we can work something out :-)

Taken from a post by Thomas Frieden on the Amigaworld.net community portal:

Just to let you know: OS4 supports Altivec since today (I had nothing else to do today )

I went for the "simple" approach: When a task starts, it's launched with Altivec disabled, thus no vector registers are stored during context switch. The first altive instruction then generates an exception, and the enable bit is set. From then on, the task saves/restores Altivec context whenever it is scheduled. vrsave is used to keep track of the registers.

Im back after a hell of a journey home. The car broke down over 100 miles away from home so we had to get a recovery vehicle back. Finally got home at 2am, dog tired and starving hungry (up at 7am and last ate at 8am).
